Volunteers Planting for Biodiversity

Thanks to our marvellous team of Mahurangi West Pest biodiversity volunteers we planted over 100 native shrubs and flaxes on Saturday, 8 August. We used three scrubcutters, a lawnmower, and a dozen spades (supplied by Restore Rodney East) to help prepare the ground. The Rodney Local Board supplied a roll of coconut-fibre weed mat and manuka seedlings, and the Auckland Council’s environmental team provided the native shrubs, flaxes and ferns. Altogether a great team effort!

Thanks also to Paul Jamieson, who delivered the weed mulch and spread it around all the new plants, the following day.

Keep a look out for our next planting day!
